Lore of Obsidian

The World Before Gods

Before divinity had names, before mortals dared to dream of ascension, there was Obsydil.

Obsydil was a world of brilliance and decay—advanced beyond imagination, yet bound to a single, fatal truth: it was dying. Its people, known as the Obsy, were not born gods. They were thinkers, creators, scholars, and visionaries who pushed the boundaries of science and magic in equal measure. They believed knowledge could save them.

But knowledge alone could not stop extinction.

As Obsydil neared collapse, the Obsy faced an impossible choice: fade quietly into oblivion, or sacrifice everything they were to create something new.

From that choice, the universe of Obsidian was born.

The Obsy: A People Who Became Gods

At the center of Obsydil’s final hours stood Aidian and Lysinae, two of the greatest minds their people had ever known. Together, they devised a last solution—one that required the total conversion of their world, their race, and themselves.

Obsydil was dismantled at the atomic and magical level. Its essence was reshaped into a new cosmos, stabilized by sacrifice and bound by law. The Obsy did not survive this act as they once were.

They ascended.

Aidian and Lysinae emerged as the first divine beings—no longer mortal, no longer limited. From their union came the next generation of gods: the Obsid.

Yet ascension did not erase memory. The Obsid remembered loss, fear, love, and regret.

And those memories would shape eternity.

The Obsid Pantheon

The Obsid are not distant, flawless deities. They are beings forged from sacrifice, emotion, and consequence—each governing a fundamental force of existence.

  • Aidian — Divine Father, architect of creation, embodiment of order and responsibility.

  • Lysinae — Divine Mother, giver of life, steward of growth, love, and emotional truth.

  • Wynn, The Timeless Magical One — Keeper of magic, science, and the Magical Matrix itself.

  • Divina, The True and Peaceful One — Goddess of faith, reverence, and belief.

  • Canius, The Spiritual One — Guardian of souls, death, and the passage beyond life.

  • Mystal, The Fortunate Lively One — Goddess of chaos, invention, curiosity, and mischief.

  • Astea, The Nurtured Creative One — Goddess of nature, beauty, fertility, and the living world.

  • Siegare, The Avenging One — God of honor, conflict, and righteous war.

Each Obsid governs their domain not as an abstraction, but as a responsibility—one that demands restraint.

Not all of them honored that responsibility equally.

The Magical Matrix & the Shape of Reality

At the core of Obsidian lies the Magical Matrix—a living, sentient construct designed to regulate all magic, energy, and balance within the universe.

Magic is not limitless.

It flows through the Matrix, guided by rules older than gods themselves. The Matrix observes, advises, and corrects—but it does not command. Its warnings can be ignored.

Often, they are.

Alongside the Matrix exists Time—not a place, not a being, but a conscious force present in all moments simultaneously. Time does not intervene. It only bears witness.

Together, these forces ensure that power always carries consequence.

Mortals & the Age of Ascension

When the Obsid shaped new worlds, they populated them with mortals—beings fragile, curious, and fleeting. Mortals were never meant to ascend.

But mortals watched the gods.

They learned.

They worshipped.

And eventually, they demanded more.

Driven by curiosity, compassion, and hubris in equal measure, some of the Obsid chose to elevate mortals—granting them divine power without divine restraint.

This decision fractured the pantheon.

Ascension, once a singular sacrifice born of necessity, became a temptation.

The Ascension War

Power unearned does not remain obedient.

Among the ascended mortals rose leaders, visionaries, and tyrants. Chief among them was Fraxsin Thrace, a former ranger whose ambition eclipsed reverence.

What began as rebellion became war.

Necromancy tore holes in the afterlife. The undead walked. Faith fractured. The Obsid turned against one another as ideals collided with survival.

The Ascension War reshaped realms, shattered trust, and left scars that even gods could not erase.

Its consequences still echo.

Realms, Artifacts, and Forbidden Truths

Beyond the mortal worlds lie realms shaped by divine intent—and divine mistake:

  • The Nether Realm, born of curiosity and imbalance

  • Artifacts capable of rewriting existence

  • Knowledge deliberately buried by the gods themselves

  •

Not all truths are meant to be remembered.

Some are waiting to be rediscovered.

A Living Myth

The history of Obsidian is not singular. Legends conflict. Memories fade. Even gods disagree.

What you read here is not a record—it is a perspective. As the series unfolds, truths will deepen, myths will fracture, and certainty will erode. Because in Obsidian, even eternity is not immune to change.

Welcome to the lore.
