What To Do Next on #QueryIsland

As the mayor of #QueryIsland I get to sit on high in my own personal query trench, but I do get out to the main trenches and try to encourage people often.

Now let's be real for a moment, I have mentioned that I am on the precipice of switching from the traditional publishing route to the self publishing route.

You see I am arguing with myself about whether or not to shelve this first manuscript. I believe in it, and I know it is an ambitious structure, but it is something a little different.

Isn't different what we are supposed to be going for? So many prequels to various franchises and old franchises being redone now. Both of those notions are cliches and done to death now!

So what to do next? We are writers and we create the entertainment of the world! We have all the emotions, all the points of view, and all the voices! What to do next? Write something new! Something ambitious! Something barely done if not brand new and unique!

Agents! Indie publishers! Acquiring editors! I ask for all of us aspiring writers, take a chance! Look at an ambitious structure such as mine and see what you can do with it! Give an aspiring writer a chance to chase their dream! You just might find a diamond in the rough!

When we write, we are putting ourselves out there. Take a swing on something unorthodox and walk it with us! I dont know the industry as well as an industry pro, but I do know that people at large are begging, pleading, yearning, hunger and thirst for something new! Give us writers a real shot and some of us will deliver even if its outside of your lane or your typical acquisition.
